Resources available:
For those attending classes at Jervois Road, there is a mini library with many art books available for research as well as the internet if desired. I am also able to project different aspects of interest and imagery pertinent to the teaching via the internet on to the wall (large format) of the teaching room.

Teenagers and Teenagers and Parents

$250 plus materials (listed on Adult Classes page, plus cost of LED lights.) per course for a teenager accompanied by a parent, both parent and teenager will create an art work, either together working on the same portrait, or working separately on individual projects. The parent can learn realistic portrait painting, while the teenager learns to paint their favourite celebrity or animation character and complete the painting by making it truly unique by attaching solar powered LED lights, which means that the painting will light up at night all by itself!!! Just imagine one of the Avatar characters with tiny green lights in their eyes!! You will also learn how to 'wire up' your painting to make these little lights glow (with parents and tutor supervision).

This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and teenagers to have special time together. Cost for a teenager attending by themselves is $175 plus materials per 8 week course.

Class times for parents and teenagers
Arrival time anywhere between:
3.30 and 4.30..........Mon to Fri and Sat(pm), Sun(am + pm)

Online Courses in Painting and drawing for Adults

I have been teaching these courses at Community Education night classes for five years now, as well as for two years online. For those who are not able to attend classes at the physical address, an online full course of pre recorded live lessons is available at a cost of $250 for an eight week course.

I give many comprehensive drawing demonstrations in the pre-recorded lessons. I am also available to communicate with you via Skype and by you e.mailing your work to me which I comment on, print out and draw on top of re-scan and send back to you so that you can see how to develop the work further. Online courses are a lot of fun and just as successful as attending a class.

Soon I will be introducing international conferencing classes where there will be two or three students in different countries all attending the same online course and able to talk to each other as well as myself during online class time.

Alternatively you may wish to attend a class live using skype, in which case you will be visible to the other students and you will have a place at the tables through my laptop. You will be able to communicate both with myself and the other students as I have a wireless microphone which means you can hear what I am saying at all times and you can speak and be heard when ever you want to just the same as the other students. You will be in your own studio, but you can show me your work via webcam as well as e.mailing me scans which I can help you with. I have been doing this for two years already, it is a huge success and everyone loves the high-tech novelty value of this approach to distance learning.

Life Drawing Courses for Adults (Not Running Term 1)
Courses run for eight weeks at a cost of $250 per course. Professional painter / illustrator and tutor James Wakelin will teach you many skills to help you create beautiful fresh looking drawings.

Please visit www.illustr8.co.nz to view his highly competent work. Enjoy a relaxing class Sundays, 9:30~11:30 am or 1~3 pm according to demand.

Life Drawing is invaluable for improving observation and rendering of shape, proportion and form. Whilst seen as a formal discipline it is both enjoyable and invaluable as a learning tool.

Term 1 - 8th Feb onward
